Groups What to expect from groups

The first time that you come to a group you will be welcomed by a member of the team who will:

  • Show you where to sign in, hang your coats, get a drink and show you our Family Services welcome packs.

After being welcomed to a group:

  • Pay your £1 voluntary contribution
  • You and your child/ren can choose what activity to take part in / play resources to use
  • Staff are available to support you and your child/ren in any way that is useful to you.  Staff pay attention to the development, learning and relationships of every child in the groups, and to anything which may be affecting you or them.
  • If you have any concerns or questions about anything related to you or your child/ren, staff are available to listen and talk with you.  If you wish, staff can work with you to try to find ways to help.
  • If you would like to talk privately, staff can arrange a quiet room away from the group.
  • There may be subjects that you would like to find out more about e.g. child development and behaviour, speech and language, health related issues, domestic violence, first aid, training and employment.  Our Family Services Team are always keen to hear from you and can arrange to invite people into groups to share information with you, or to be available for a one to one drop in appointment.

What our parents say

"The (Twerton Children's Centre) nursery, in particular keyworkers, have been fantastic supporting us and helping with behavioural issues."

"(Our son) has really flourised (at Moorlands Children's Centre) and this will stand him in great stead for heading off to school in September."
